- Authors
Schaffer, Linda; Kingsley, Karla V.
- Abstract
The article presents a science experiment to help fifth graders demonstrate how plants remove water from the soil and then release the water to the atmosphere. The experiment works by comparing open and closed growing systems with the use of drought-tolerant and high water requirement plants. A list of materials is provided for measuring water loss. The article also mentions an activity where students can design a simple garden using native plants.
