Iran launches first satellite, prepares second.
- Abstract
The article presents information about the launch of first Iranian artificial satellite, Sinah 1. This satellite was manufactured by Russian aerospace company Polyot Air Co. and was launched into the orbit on October 27, 2005 from Plesetsk in northern Russia. The Iranian government is also planning to launch its second satellite, called Masbah, in January 2006. This satellite is entirely a civil telecommunications satellite, which is set to be deployed in sun-synchronous orbit and also is supposed to revolve about 14 times in a solar day.
