Abstract
The article presents the factors that contributes to the financial crisis in 2007-2009 in the U.S. It states that the combination of credit boom and a housing bubble was the fundamental cause of the crisis. It also notes the "originate to distribute model" of securitization which led to lower quality loans that are transformed to high-rated securities.
