THE WORLD ECONOMY: Global prospects for medium-term growth.
- Abstract
The article discusses global economic growth for the medium-term. It is stated that the defaults on subprime mortgages in the U.S. have turned the global financial markets unsteady and there has been a sharp rise in risk premia. It is mentioned that the global growth remains 5.2 percent in 2007 and is expected to be 4.7 percent in 2008. It is also mentioned that there are positive signs of more moderate growth in China and Europe in 2008 than the current year. Several charts representing the comparative economic growths in several countries over the years are also presented.
