SPEAKING FOR THE OTHER?
- Authors
Polites, Peter; Convery, Stephanie
- Abstract
The article presents a debate between Peter Polites and Stephanie Convery on literary speaking rights. Polites states that a writer can tell another's stories, relating the conversation of Sweatshop director Michael Mohammed Ahmad and a waiter while they were having a dinner at Volcanos, wherein, the other was provided the tools to write instead of writing the other. Convery says that writers complement other's stories, engage with them, generate empathy, and acknowledge multiple experiences.
