- Abstract
The article focuses on use of intravenous dyes in surgical procedure and error induced by intravenous dyes. Topics discussed include commonly used intravenous dyes such as indocyanine green (ICG), indigo carmine and methylene blue, development of pulse oximeter to measure rates of absorption in infrared light in hemoglobin and use of cerebral near-infrared spectrometry to measure the absorption ratio of two different wavelengths of near-infrared light in venous and arterial blood.
