An analysis of poetry by Jack Spicer is presented. It examines how Spicer addresses public identities related to the Beat movement and homosexuality. Particular attention is given to the collection "After Lorca" and how it demonstrates Spicer's view of poetry as public language and the response of poets to the public perception of poetry.
