The author reflects on the rights of innkeepers. She recalls the hotel on the shores of Lake Erie where they slept wherein "The Rights of the Innkeeper" were posted on the inside of each door. She also recalls the time when she was called for jury duty in Meriden, Connecticut but defered the date because she could not get to Meriden on the day of the trial. She also reveals that she cannot stop thinking if the case is about the rights of innkeepers.
