- Abstract
Objective: the objective of the present study was to identify the experiences and perceptions of parents and male caregivers of children with sequelae of Congenital Zika Syndrome. Methodology: qualitative study, carried out in the municipality of Montes Claros with male parents, who have children with some sequel to the Zika virus. Data collection was carried out in the first half of 2020, in the periods between the months of February and March and the interviews followed the script of guiding questions and were recorded by an electronic recorder. Results: at first, upon receiving the news of the diagnosis, the parents experience feelings of sadness and anguish, however they seek to better understand the condition of the child and seek to prioritize their quality of life. Conclusion: therefore, despite all the difficulties encountered in the routine of families with members with microcephaly, parents always look for therapies that help improve their children to provide the best care for them.
