- Abstract
The results of developing a conceptual design of the accelerating–storage complex of the fourth-generation synchrotron radiation source with an X-ray free-electron laser SILA (SILA source), created at the Logunov Institute of High-Energy Physics of the National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute" (NRC KI) in Protvino, are reported. A general description of the facility, including its main parameters, the characteristics of generated radiation, and the technical solutions applied to achieve them, is presented. Particular attention is paid to the accelerating–storage complex, composed of a linear accelerator (linac), operating at a total energy of 6 GeV, and a magneto-optical system of the storage ring. The priority lines of research and that tasks that are expected to be solved with the aid of the SILA source are discussed.
