The article focuses on Flag Salute Controversy at Lake Ronkonkoma Elementary School where thirteen-year-old eighth grader refuse saluting the American flag due to her Jehovah's Witness faith. It mentions witnesses to use constitutional law in the courts to limit laws and regulations that restricted the practice of their religion. It also mentions several U.S. Supreme Court flag salute cases such as Minersville School District v. Gobitis and West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette.
