- Abstract
The article features Sarah Glueck, who became famous due to her daring feats during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. During the war, she worked as the postmistress in the village of Lady Grey in the Cape Province in South Africa. During the Boer invasion, Glueck also defied the Boer commando through her refusal to take down the Union Jack. Glueck, born Sarah Bella Abrahams, is the daughter of Elias Abrahams. She was married to German Marcus Glueck and they settled in South Africa in the early 1890s. During the occupation of the Boer army, Glueck founded an Intelligence department in Lady Grey through the help of native runners.
