The author focuses on the development of Reye syndrome (RS). According to the author, RS represents a sudden mitochondrial insult demonstrating as an acute encephalopathy, selective hepatic dysfunction and fatty infiltration of the viscera seen in children. It is stated that the actual pathogenesis of RS remains unknown despite of better investigation and diagnostic molecular techniques. The connection of Aspirin in RS is also discussed.
