Cross - sectional and case series study, with the evaluation of six athletes of both sexes and of different Brazilian cities, through the application of an adapted questionnaire, available online, to investigate habits related to diet, supplementation and training. The evaluation of the nutritional status by means of the body fat parameter was considered healthy for all the participants in the off season periods, however it was changed to proportions considered underweight and malnutrition in the periods that approached the competitions. It was observed a higher consumption of fresh and processed foods, with low consumption of industrialized products and high energy density, but athletes had high consumption and monthly expenses with food supplements, in addition to the majority to make use of anabolic steroids androgens near of the competitions period. It was concluded that veganism allows the practice of bodybuilding, and that although the characteristics of the diet of these athletes as well as their supplementation present several particularities, the results of body composition and performance are similar to those obtained by omnivorous athletes.
