- Abstract
The publication of a new Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FCSE) textbook, I Family & consumer sciences: Preventative and restorative education i , has hit the market at the right time. Even though this textbook is most likely viewed as a resource for an FCS teacher-educator in a traditional post-secondary teacher education program, there is a possibility of such a text also being weaved into the alternative certification process in states across the country. With a continued dwindling of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) teacher-education programs (Taggart, [6]), filling the secondary FCS teacher pipeline continues to pose an increasing challenge (Duncan et al., [3]).
