- Authors

- Abstract
This article examines the politics of media feminism through the image of the beautiful-and-bad woman. The author analyzes the feminist politics of international women's magazines and self-help books in Taiwan in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, showing how Taiwanese feminism negotiates the relationships between Taiwanese society, Western feminism and consumerism. She examines the extent to which international women's magazines have shaped popular knowledge about feminism in Taiwan. She stresses the need to theorize media feminism in Taiwan in the context of neoliberal globalization.
