- Abstract
The article presents a study on the origin of the contemporary wildfires in the Upper Midwest of the U.S. states including Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin between 1985 and 1995 using a wide array of satellite and ground-based data. A combination of factors such as abiotic, biotic and human are found to be related to the spatial distribution of wildfires. Fire occurrences and modern fire pattern are noted to be influenced by the settlement of human as well as the using of land.
