The author comments on a study published within the issue which examined the association of low educational attainment on the development of early inflammatory arthritis in two cohorts with clinically suspected arthalgia. Cited are the strengths of the study, particularly its use of mediation analysis, some of the problems with the methodology used in the study, and the clinical implications of the study.
