- Abstract
The Journal of Economic Geography (JoEG) is a 23-year-old journal that has evolved over time to reflect the changing economy and academic research in economics and economic geography. It has reported on global shocks such as economic crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the climate emergency, documenting the local impacts of these disruptions. The editorial team has recently changed, with three new editors joining the team. The journal aims to redefine and reinvigorate the intersection between economics and geography, emphasizing openness, inclusivity, and diversity in research. In 2024, the journal plans to introduce new formats, including a new paper type called "Emerging voices" and a competitive application process for special issues. The editors also plan to publish a virtual special issue to celebrate the value of bringing perspectives from economics and geography together. The journal welcomes feedback and ideas for further evolution.
