The author reflects on the restoration of public trust to the accounting profession. Topics covered include the belief that majority of people are trying to do the right thing, the concern raised by investors on the way accounts have been prepared and audited by professionals and the loss of faith in the profession due to scandals and business failures. Also mentioned is the effort by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) in improving the quality of audits.
