- Authors
Flint, Kate
- Abstract
The article focuses on moral judgment and English art criticism in the period 1870-1910. It explains that the employment of moral vocabulary in art criticism during this period can be broken down into three categories. It also adds that critics during this period seem to have believed in the existence of a crucial dividing line between the naked and the nude, with its artistic potential. It also adds that the introduction of politics as a criterion in art criticism was closely linked to the theme of nationalism and patriotism during that time.
