- Abstract
When considering Turkey's energy resources and diversity, it seems that dependence on foreign energy resources has gradually increased. In Turkey, nuclear energy is an alternative option to ensure energy supply for the increasing demand under the pressure of growth, industrialization, and technological infrastructure. The aim of this study is to display the public perception of the proximity of the Akkuyu Nuclear Energy Plant, which can be framed as Adana, Hatay, and Mersin regions. For this purpose, this article is based on a survey to display the public's economic and societal security perception in relevance with the access to nuclear energy. As the concluding remarks after the survey, the conclusive argument is that the public has a negative and hesitant attitude towards nuclear energy when the societal and economic security parameters are taken into consideration.
