- Abstract
Structural design in case of fire for bracing steel framework - comparison of single component and partitioned structure According to Eurocode DIN EN 1993-1-2 design of steel structures in case of fire can be done on the single component, the partitioned structure or even the whole structure. In case of Standard-Fire-Curve it is allowed to proof fire resistance on the single component. For standard cases of columns and beams in sufficient braced structures this approach is comprehensible beyond doubt. But the question is whether this approach is also on the safe side for bracing framework. In this article the question will be investigated by analyzing a framework with coupled hinged columns. The thermal analysis of the single components with fire protecting claddings are done using the thermal properties of national annex DIN EN 1993-1-2/NA. For thermal analysis of the partitioned structure with method of finite elements these simplified thermal properties are proofen and slightly modified. The influence of softness of bolted connections and thermal strain of frame transom are discussed.
