- Abstract
In this study, the relationship between total energy consumption and economic growth using a multivariate production model is measured. Based on the data in Turkey between the years of 1981-2013, the relationship is analysed for short and long term through ARDL-bound test. In this context, in the long term, the impact of total energy consumption, gross fixed capital formation and employment which are the variables, is significant and positive and the energy consumption is the most effective of all. In the short term analysis, there is a significant and positive relationship between total energy consumption, gross fixed capital formation and economic growth. However, it is determined that there is no significant relationship between economic growth and employment. In accordance with these results, various recommendations are presented to increase the economic effectiveness in Turkey.
