- Abstract
Limited literature on consumer disposition provides disposition decision taxonomy and process as well as few varied factors that influence the decision making. Despite references to situational, personal as well as object related factors and their influence on disposition decisions, these factors have been studied independently. Using technological obsolescence and product dysfunction as contexts in which disposition decisions are taken, this study examines three main disposition decisions: keeping the product, getting rid of it permanently and getting rid of it temporarily, for three different product categories using ANCOVA. This study showed significant impact of several of these variables for each disposition decision.
