- Abstract
Introduction: The meditation is a non-religious and non-esoteric, which is based on a systematic procedure to alleviate the sufferings which is associated with physical, psychosomatic, and psychiatric disorders. Meditative techniques are categorized as emphasizing mindfulness, concentration, and automatic self-transcendence, in which the transcendental meditation, emphasizes the use of mantra to regulate one's concentration and attention. Aim: The aim of the study is to know about the effect of meditation on mental stress. Objective: The objective of this study is to explore whether meditation reduces mental stress or not. Materials and Methods: The sample size choosed for this study is about 100 participants. A set of questionnaire was submitted in a SurveyPlanet software and all the data were compiled for statistical analysis. Results: The results show that 86% of the students state that they are stressed and they agree that meditational practices reduce their mental stress. Conclusion: Thus, our findings prove that meditation has a positive result in reducing mental stress and helps people to improve their concentration and memory power, but people fail to practice at regular intervals.
