Attitude toward orthodontic treatment in treatment undergoing patients.

- Abstract
Aim: This study aims to analyze the attitude of orthodontic patients toward treatment. Materials and Methods: This study consists of 60 subjects of varied ages between 18 and 30 undergoing orthodontic treatment in the Department of Orthodontics, Saveetha Dental College. It consists of 34 female subjects and 26 male subjects. A questionnaire was given to all the subjects to evaluate their attitude toward orthodontic treatment. Results: About 76.6% of the individuals are not happy with their looks with braces. 78.3% of the subjects are not aware of the need of retainers after the completion of orthodontic treatment. 60% of the subjects restrict their food habits due to orthodontic treatment. 65% of subjects realize that leaving orthodontic treatment in the middle will worsen the existing problem. Conclusion: About 80% of the subjects were aware of the purpose of the braces. 70% of the subjects feel that orthodontic treatment is expensive. 78.3% of subjects are not aware of the need of retainers after orthodontic treatment. It is essential to educate the subjects about the need of retainers after orthodontic treatment.
