The article discusses the violence and social justice campaigns in the Kansas frontier as retold in films about the state and the Great Plains as of September 2019. Also cited are the legacy of murder by the Bender family, as well as the various motion pictures about violence in the state like "Bender," directed by John Alexander, "In Cold Blood," and "Ballad of Buster Scruggs."
