The article explores the rituals suggested by the Investiture Panel at the palace of Mari in the ancient Near East that endowed kings with the divine power. It examines the motifs of creation, sacred garden and divine kingship in the palace and analyzes the ancient Mesopotamian religious texts, images and architecture in the Near East. It also discusses themes relating to Latter-day Saint temple worship.
