Peter Bauer: Blazing the Trail of Development.
- Authors
VÁSQUEZ, IAN
- Abstract
The article features the late Peter Bauer, a pioneer of development economics whose contributions to the understanding of economic progress spanned more than five decades to 2007 and named by World Bank one of the ten leading post-war development economists. It indicates how he repeatedly pointed to a widespread disregard of evident reality in his field of economic development where impressive advances coexisted with retrogression. It cites claims by Bauer that Indian economist B. R. Shenoy had personally influenced his own conduct and opinions.
