The article focuses on patient-made simulations wherein artists Claude Monet who has cataracts and Edgar Degas with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) created photographs to show the effect their ocular conditions which, according to the author, can help ophthalmologists to understand what patients with various ocular pathologies are actually seeing and how visual symptoms impact their lives. It mentions the deterioration of details, colors and forms in the work of these artists.
