- Abstract
The anaesthetist providing anaesthesia for paediatric neurosurgical procedures should be aware of safe techniques to provide the child with the best chance at good postoperative neurologic outcomes. Ventriculo-peritoneal shunt (VP shunt) insertion and meningomyelocele repair are two common paediatric neurosurgical procedures. Anaesthesia for these surgeries should prevent further brain damage and preserve or improve the workings of the central nervous system.
