- Abstract
The teaching of language and the use made of it by the students concerned to specialists and teachers. That is why, within the multiple factors that influence their teaching, this paper aims to explore what they think the language and literature teachers regarding the teaching of the mother tongue within the Venezuelan context. From the theoretical point of view, authors like Rosenblat (1981), Obregon (1983), Paez (1985), Villalba and Pinto (1999), Serrón (2003) and Arnáez (1997, 2006), among others, established some powers must be the teacher who imparts this knowledge area that served as reference and conceptual in the study. Methodologically, we followed the assumptions of interpretive paradigm, we applied a questionnaire consisting of twelve questions to eighteen language teachers of Basic Education and analyzed their opinions. In conclusion, the study established the relationship between knowledge, beliefs and practice teaching declarative, some proposals were analyzed and evaluated explicit differences in the conceptualization of the language and its teaching by teachers working in on this level.
