This paper presents the phonology of the local speech of Tršće, a settlement situated in the north part of Gorski kotar. Because of its specific characteristics, phonology represents the most interesting speech level. The local speech of Tršće belongs to the western type of Gorski kotar's kajkavian dialect group which, as dialectologist have often observed, departs from the typical kajkavian dialect developement (the equation of ə and ĕ, Q and l is not confirmed).
