- Title
The "Round" Meetinghouses of New Hampshire and Vermont.
- Abstract
The article discusses the architectural style and structure of meetinghouses in Concord, New Hampshire, Claremont, New Hampshire, and Richmond, Vermont. It particularly examines the construction of octagonal or horseshoe shaped additions to the Concord and Claremont meetinghouses and the construction of sixteen-sided churches in Richmond and Claremont, called the Richmond Round Church and the Claremont Round Church. The author explores the role of carpenter William Rhodes in the Richmond construction and suggests that these structures were aberrations to contemporary rectangular plans.
