- Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the general research trends in the theses by using a content analysis of the postgraduate theses on the "nature of science" in Türkiye. For this purpose, 99 theses, which were completed between 2015 and 2021, and whose full-text access was allowed in the Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education, were included in the research. For the analysis of the data, content analysis was performed, and the data were examined in terms of "type of research, university, department, language, publication year, objectives, the process carried out in reaching the objectives, research method, and design, sample level and size, data collection tools, and data analysis methods” which were determined by the researchers. As a result of the research, it was determined that the subject of "nature of science" was mostly studied at the postgraduate level and in the Department of Elementary Education. It was observed that most theses were conducted in 2019 and the effects of teaching theory/model/approach/method/techniques were mostly examined in theses. In the theses, mostly mixed research methods and quasi-experimental designs among the quantitative research methods were used. In the theses examined, it was determined that the sample group consisted mostly of science teacher candidates and 7th grade students, mostly surveys were used as data collection tools, mostly content analysis was utilized among qualitative methods, and t-test and ANOVA were used among quantitative analysis methods.
