- Abstract
Replacement of lost teeth with osseointegrated implants is a major step forward in dentistry. But in order to be successful, implant should fulfill all the requirements for appropriate biologic and mechanical functioning. The difference between natural tooth and implant is absence of resiliency of periodontal ligament. Because of this all the compressive and tensile loads are transferred to the bone and to the restoration in case of misfit between implant and prosthesis. However, with the advent of intra oral welding, it is now possible to manufacture extremely high quality and durable prosthesis with high precision and successfully rehabilitate patient on the same day of implant surgery. Though, expertise is required by dental implantologists in the required field to incorporate in routine dental practice.
