The article discusses the reconstruction of velvet objects and embroidery on the traditional state barge of Venice, Italy, the Bucintoro. Among other topics addressed are existing documentation of the iconography of the decorations on the barge, themes and motifs of the artwork used, and words and phrases appearing on the artwork used on the boat.
