- Abstract
Turkey, As location of geographical position, has been as one of the important centers where various fruit types being cultivated. İmportant developments for cherry cultivation partaking in these types of fruits have been derived in recent years. Nowadays cherry farming almost in every city are being applied, using modern farming techniques caused the numbers of cherry types. 24 types of cherry are being cultivated in Turkey today. By analysing Turkey cherry farming areas and developments on ıts production, distributions of cherry farming according to regions and cities, importance of Turkey cherry farming on world farming and export and by finding out the problems on cherry farming, solution offers have been introduced in this research. Turkey's export of cherry which has an important place in the world cherry production and export has started since 1985. Turkey is the first of the world by farming 417.694 tonnes cherry which equals the %20 of world cherry farming. More than %12 of cherry production (51268 tonnes) grown in our cultivated has been exported in 2009. European countries have an important place in ıts export, ıt exports cherry over 30 countries. Various infrastructure defects, not organise between people and association taking part in production and marketing, lack of effective agriculture planning,lack of information on production and marketing, financing and shipping issues are important matters for cherry production. It is possible to keep up production and export by decreasing the matters on cherry production and shipping. To find solutions for cherry producers having problems on production and marketing, our goverment's following policy of marketing, cherry production and continuity of ıts quality will make Turkish cherry permanent in world trading.
