- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the discovery of orange sodalite gemstones from Badakhshan, Afghanistan. Sodalite is typically known for its dark blue color, but these stones exhibit a vivid orange hue. The stones were found in the Kokcha Valley and are believed to have slight photochromic properties. Testing confirmed their identity as sodalite and revealed that the orange color is stable, while the reddish-orange color is unstable and fades back to the original color. The article also briefly mentions spessartine, an orange gem material found in Loliondo, Tanzania.
