- Abstract
A recent study published in Digestive Diseases & Sciences analyzed the learning curve for a single-use duodenoscope, a device used in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. The study found that an experienced endoscopist achieved proficiency with the single-use duodenoscope after performing 10 cases. However, the study had limitations, including a small sample size and the fact that the procedures were performed by only one endoscopist. The study also highlighted concerns about the device's performance and its application in real-world practice. While the single-use duodenoscope showed promise for non-complex cases, it may not be suitable for complex cases. The authors suggested that future advancements in manufacturing could address the device's deficiencies and improve its performance.
