- Abstract
The article focuses on benefits and risks of central counterparties (CCPs) and reflects on the changes in financial regulation in Great Britain. It states that CCPs are financial market infrastructures and offers benefits such as multilateral netting and collateral is provided by the default member to the other and risks associated with CCPs includes losses on investment of collateral and failure of a payment bank. The Bank of England has been given supervisory responsibilities for CCPs.
