- Abstract
The article reports on the call made by Engineers Ireland president Jim Browne for engineers to educate the public about engineering to attract more young people to the profession during his inaugural address. He says that there are various difficulties in attracting undergraduate students to the profession that play a central role in the society. He adds that there is a decline in interest in engineering. He stresses that engineers and scientists should explain themselves to the public to promote understanding and appreciation of the field and science.
