- Abstract
This article describes a surgical technique called the "Cochlear Implant 'Seatbelt' Technique" for fixing cochlear implant receiver/stimulators. The technique involves using a Mersilene cervical cerclage tape as a securement strap for the receiver/stimulator, which is anchored to the bone with screws. The article reports that this technique has been effective in preventing migration and extrusion of the receiver/stimulator, with no instances of revision surgeries required in their cohort of 146 cochlear implantations. The technique is described as simple, safe, and time-saving, and the authors suggest that further research is needed to compare it with other fixation techniques.
