- Abstract
The article focuses on organizational structure of Major League Soccer (MLS) and its self-proclaimed, ambitious goal is to become one of the major soccer leagues in the world by 2022. It mentions MLS will succeed in the balancing act between the requirements of a league in a U.S. sports environment and a league as part of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) framework. It also mentions how MLS' transfer system significantly differs from international practices.
