- Abstract
The article examines the evolution of accurate and comprehensive trigonometric tables. It is noted that Babylonians and Egyptians from second millennium BC were interested in mathematics due to astrology and astronomy but mundanely due to accounting, building and surveying which led to Babylonian way of representing numbers, the sexadecimal system. Involving arcs of circles and angles, Greek astronomer Aristarchus attempted to find how much further the Sun was than the Moon from Earth.
