- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the New Mexico Territorial Fair, which was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1881 to 1911. It is said that political issues, particularly the issue of statehood for New Mexico, were related to the fairs. Topics include relations between Hispanic and Anglo-American New Mexicans as presented to outsiders through the fair, the presence of Populist agitation on behalf of a silver standard for U.S. currency, and racial discrimination against Native American New Mexicans.
