- Abstract
The article discusses corruption within U.S. labor unions from the 1930s through the early 2010s, including in regard to the organizational structure of labor unions and labor union racketeering . The relationship between U.S. labor unions and organized crime, including in regard to organized crime's intimidation of labor union officials, is discussed. An overview of U.S. criminal laws drafted to prevent corruption, including the 1959 Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (the Landrum-Griffin Act or LMRDA), is provided.
