- Title
Saurer Textile Solutions: massive nonwovens enlargement.
- Abstract
This article presents an update on the division Saurer Textile Solutions of Switzerland-based Saurer AG as of May 2006. In the second half of 2005 sales of €615 million were achieved, almost the level of the previous year. In total, Asian markets continued to dominate in the textile sector with 67 percent of sales, however, in 2005 only 28 percent came from China compared with 38 percent in the previous year. The order intake for 2005, of €1,067 million was below the high level of the previous year. The main reason for this was the decline in demand from China, principally for major projects for filament yarn installations, texturing and synthetic staple fibers. In 2005 Saurer acquired seven textile technology companies, operating in the areas of nonwovens, textile machine components and recycling.
