- Abstract
The article offers information on the description of odious, illegitimate, illegal, or illegal debt based on the premises of international economic law. The relation of the different types of debts within the international debt arbitration based upon Chapter 9 in the United States bankruptcy code is presented, followed by discussion on the differences between illegitimate and other types of debts. It is argued that debt sustainability and specific amount of debt reduction is needed in addressing the problems in domestic and multilateral debt.
